High Definition in F1

“As soon as the broadcasters tell me they want it, we can do it. I think next year is too soon; we’re looking at more like 2012,” F1′s ‘Godfather’ said.High Definition or HD becomes a trend nowadays. People might want to see every single moment the Formula 1 driver in HD as well. However, according to F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone, HD will not be available in Formula 1 by this year. Although there is a commissioned fan survey from Formula One Team Association or FOTA, which stated that 70 per cent of fans would like to see the HD and 3D using in F1 broadcast, the broadcasters tell that next year still too soon.

There was a demonstration of F1 broadcast was done in both HD and 3D recently; a Lotus F1 was carrying a special 3D camera all along the race in his practice session in Canadian GP. However, nobody success to track the demonstrated video after that.

Standard Definition or SD is going to be outdated as HD broadcast that offer higher resolution display might take place in every major sporting event in the future. In Malaysia, we have plenty of HD TVs and we also have access to HD content in the form of either BluRay discs or Astro B.yond. It will be a good news if the F1 broadcast can be done in HD as well.
