Mitsubishi ASX coming to Malaysia in Q4 2010!
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is busy for this year because they have a few imported offerings slated for launch from now till the end of 2010. The first debut will be the Pajero on this month, and afterward ASX compact crossover will join MMM’s local range in the fourth quarter of this year. According to Tetsuya Oda, the new CEO of MMM, ASX, which stands for “Active Smart X-over” is the Mitsubishi Motors’ latest global model which is very popular in the market and accepted by most of the range of user. MMM has been worked hard to introduce this model to Malaysian.
“One of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia’s main targets is to provide Malaysians with a wide range of cars, and I’m confident that the trendy and stylish ASX will be well received by the discerning Malaysian market,” he added.
Previously ASX was debut with the name Outlander Sport in Japanese market RVR in February and now it will come to the coming Geneva Motor Show. ASX designed based on the concept of “Smart Size”, where benefit from both typical C-segment SUV and typical B-segment compact car. It will be powered by the 4B11 2.0-litre MIVEC engine with 150 PS and 197 Nm of torque and consist CVT gearbox with manual mode and 2WD.
This ASX is one of the lowest spec models that we get in malaysia but they sell it for a really high price (higher than the full spec). Malaysian ASX is only 2wheel drive(which means there is no toggle to switch from 2wd to 4wd near the handbrake), no audio control in the steering wheel, no sunroof, no LED illuminated panel for sunroof & lesser airbags. These features are more or less present in ASX of other countries for a cheaper price & they sell both 2wd & 4wd. In Europe this ASX is only 25,000 euro which is less than RM 110k. But how come then they say its fully imported from Japan? Does this mean the Japanese are cheating us or the local dealers have got some role in ridiculously hiking up the price by themselves? Its nice to drive though.
